Here are Grizzlies’ radio calls of Ja Morant’s massive dunk, crazy buzzer-beater
Scoring 52 points in an NBA game is an amazing achievement, and Memphis’ Ja Morant did that Monday night in the Grizzlies’ 118-105 win over San Antonio.
But the way Morant got to 52 points was simply remarkable. Three plays in particular stood out.
There was a long three-pointer, one of the best dunks of the season and a crazy buzzer-beater to end the first half.
ESPN’s “SportsCenter” shared this tweet with all three plays.
The first two plays, the massive dunk over the Spurs’ 7-foot-1 Jakob Poeltl and the amazing basket with 0.4 seconds left in the first half, wowed the Grizzlies’ radio team of Eric Hasseltine and Hank McDowell.
Here are the calls of the dunk and buzzer-beater from Hasseltine and McDowell from Twitter user Timothy Burke.
Morant’s big night also impressed Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.
“He’s a beautiful player,” Popovich told the Associated Press. “What else can you say about him? It’s not just that he’s athletic. Everybody says, ‘He’s athletic.’ Somebody says, ‘He’s a freak of nature,’ because he’s so fast. ... But he makes decisions. He knows what is going on on the court.
“So, you combine that cerebral part of his game with his athleticism and you’ve got a special kid.”
