Video shows what Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes told Andy Reid before final play of first half
The turning point of Sunday’s AFC Championship Game will stick with the Chiefs players, coaches and their fans for quite some time.
With 5 seconds left in the first half, the Chiefs held a 21-10 lead and had the ball on the Cincinnati Bengals’ 1-yard line. Crucially, the Chiefs didn’t have any timeouts.
Eschewing the field goal, quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw an ill-fated pass and the half ended without the Chiefs scoring.
Nick Jacobs of KSHB-TV (Ch. 41) shared these all-22 angles of the play.
Mahomes was mic’d-up in Sunday’s game, and this video from Twitter user Dov Kleiman shows what Mahomes told coach Andy Reid before that pass to wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
“One more,” Mahomes said. “I got it.”
Tight end Travis Kelce may have been wearing a microphone, too, because you can hear him try to cheer up Hill as they went to the locker room.
In another video, you can hear what Mahomes said after throwing a third-quarter interception.
The Bengals won 27-24 in overtime.
