For Pete's Sake

Chiefs fans lament Kansas City’s missed scoring opportunity at end of first half

Everything seemed to be coming up roses for the Chiefs and then the wheels fell off.

The Chiefs’ offense was humming in the first half of Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium.

Three possessions led to three touchdowns, and the Chiefs seemed poised to run away with the game.

The fourth drive saw the Chiefs on the Cincinnati 1-yard line without any timeouts and 9 seconds left on the clock. Unfortunately, they came away without points.

After an incompletion, there were 5 seconds left. The Chiefs were set to try a field goal but instead ran another play.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed a pass to Tyreek Hill but he was tackled short of the end zone. Instead of three or seven points, the Chiefs came up empty, and those lost points proved big as the Bengals rallied for a 27-24 win in overtime.

Chiefs fans lamented how the first half ended.
