Royals minor-leaguer reaches base seven times in a game his team wins 25-2
The Idaho Falls Chukars, the Royals’ rookie-advanced team, didn’t score in the ninth inning of their game Sunday at Grand Junction.
It was fine because the Chukars won 25-2, and there were some crazy statistics in the game.
Every Idaho Falls player reached base at last three times in the game. Each player also scored at least twice and had at least one RBI. Idaho Falls scored three or more runs in five different innings.
Idaho Falls had 28 hits, walked seven times and had two players reach base after an error.
Left fielder Alexis Rivera, a 10th-round draft pick in 2012, reached base in all seven plate appearances: two home runs, two singles and three walks. Catcher Pedro Gonzalez also hit two homers and four hits total.
Italian shortstop Marten Gasparini had three hits and smacked a home run. Right fielder Brawlun Gomez finished a home run short of a cycle.
Team records: 25 runs (most in Chukars history), 28 hits (team-record, 7 shy of league record), 48 total bases (6 shy of league record).
