Chiefs-branded chips were made from potatoes grown in fields with soil from Arrowhead
So, would a fan eat these or just keep the special Chiefs-branded bag?
It’s a question to ask because Lay’s has produced unique bags of potato chips that will given to fans of 29 NFL teams.
The company took dirt from the stadium of every team (except the Broncos, Bengals and Browns), and planted potatoes. Those potatoes were turned into chips as part of the company’s Golden Grounds chips campaign.
Lay’s didn’t explain how that works at stadiums with artificial turf.
“We worked with NFL teams to gather soil from their home grounds, and we shipped it to one of our potato farms in Texas,” Lay’s said in a video. “Under the watchful eye of our farmers, we mixed that sacred soil into the fields and we grew potatoes with it. Don’t worry, we kept the rival team separate.”
The chips won’t be available in stores as Lay’s will give away only 200 bags for each team via a Twitter sweepstakes.
Chiefs fans who want the chips made with Arrowhead Stadium soil must follow Lay’s on Twitter, tweet at the company and included specific hashtags (which fans can find here). The sweepstakes ends Jan. 25 at 10:59 p.m., and fans can enter multiple times.
