Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes has second-longest division road win streak in NFL history
Patrick Mahomes completed his fourth regular season as the Chiefs starting quarterback, and he’s piled up some impressive stats.
There are the 151 touchdown passes, and he already has 18,891 passing yards. Also this: Mahomes’ 105.8 quarterback rating is the best in NFL history, per Pro Football Reference.
Perhaps most amazing of all is Mahomes’ 13-0 record in road division games. Fans of the Chargers, Raiders and Broncos have never seen their team beat Mahomes in a home game. Ever.
Victory No. 13 on the road came Saturday when the Chiefs beat the Broncos 28-24.
“We focus a lot on division games. I mean, our first goal is always the AFC West,” Mahomes said after Saturday’s game. “In order to win it, you’ve got to win games on the road. And there’s a lot of hostile environments, especially Mile High. It’s a great environment for football, and they’re loud. They were loud today.
“And so we just go in with the mindset of just trying to play a complete game and kind to find a way to win the game at the end of the game. And we did that today.”
That 13-game road winning streak against division foes is the longest in NFL history since the 1970 merger, the Chiefs said. Only Joe Montana is ahead of Mahomes on the list.
- 20: Joe Montana (1984-93)
- 13: Patrick Mahomes (2017-21)
- 12: Peyton Manning (2010-15)
Thirteen apparently is a lucky number for the Chiefs, who also have won 13 straight games against the Broncos. That’s their longest in franchise history.
