Five clutch plays from Chiefs defense in Kansas City’s 19-9 win over Dallas Cowboys

Anyone who took the under in the Chiefs’ 19-9 win over the Cowboys was a winner on Sunday, and it wasn’t particularly close. The over/under for the game at Arrowhead Stadium was 56.5 points, more than double what the teams scored.

Fox Sports’ Joe Buck said the Cowboys’ season low for touchdowns in a game had been two, but they didn’t reach the end zone on Sunday. Dallas had just 276 yards of offense, as the Chiefs defense played its best game of the season.

Here are five of the top plays made by the defense, in no particular order.

1. Strip sack

After the Chiefs scored a touchdown for the game’s first points, defensive tackle Chris Jones recovered a fumble after Frank Clark sacked Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott, who lost the ball. The Chiefs ended up kicking a field goal to take a 9-0 lead.

2. A big stop

Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay made a big stop on a third-and-2 play as Dallas looked to cut into a 16-6 deficit in the third quarter.

3. Ward’s interception

The Chiefs took a 16-3 lead into the half after cornerback Charvarius Ward made a sensational play and intercepted a pass in the end zone.

4. Chris Jones sack

Trailing by 13 in the fourth quarter, Dallas drove inside the Chiefs’ 30-yard line. Facing a third-and-13, the Cowboys hopes of a touchdown were snuffed out by Jones.

5. Game-sealing pick

Jones, who finished with 3 1/2 sacks, three quarterback hits, two tackles for a loss and a forced fumble, tipped a Prescott pass on the Cowboys’ final possession. Dallas, which again was inside the Chiefs’ 30-yard line, saw L’Jarius Sneed intercept the throw after the tip.
