Chiefs’ Clyde Edwards-Helaire penalized for taunting after pointing at Cowboys player

The NFL is making a point of cracking down on taunting this season, and that apparently includes not pointing at an opponent.

Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire learned that the hard way in Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

In the second quarter, the Chiefs ran an option play from the Cowboys’ 1-yard line, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes pitched to Edwards-Helaire for an easy touchdown run.

As he was about to cross the goal line, Edwards-Helaire raised his arm and pointed at Cowboys linebacker Luke Gifford.

That drew a flag for taunting.

Was it the right call?

”I’m all for the emphasis on taunting, I just think we’ve gone a little too far with it,” Fox Sports analyst Troy Aikman said during the broadcast.

Sports Illustrated also didn’t seem to like the call.
