For Pete's Sake

The Royals put a secret message in Twitter photo announcing new uniforms are coming

Royals fans everywhere did their best to look for clues as to what the team’s new uniforms might look like.

On Wednesday, the Royals tweeted a darkened photo and wrote: “New threads.11.19.21.”

It’s clear that Royals second baseman Whit Merrifield is in the photo, but it’s tough to see if there are any hints as to what the uniform colors, design, etc.

So some fans enlarged the photo on their computer, phone or tablet. And when you do that, it’s clear to see a special message the Royals’ social media team left. It’s “Nice try” as you can see in Josh Chavis’ tweet:

Kudos to the social media team for that Easter egg. Clearly someone knew fans would increase the size of the photo to search for an inkling of what was to come.

What change (if any) do you hope to see in the Royals’ uniforms?

Maybe the powder blues?

How about the black-and-blue look?

Or perhaps the sleeveless jerseys from the 2000s?

Or, um, the “Turn Ahead The Clock” threads from the 1990s?

What look are you hoping to see on Friday? Vote in our poll and leave a comment.
