Chiefs’ Darrel Williams channels Randy Moss for dazzling TD catch against Raiders

Chiefs running back Darrel Williams had a decent evening as a ball carrier during the “Sunday Night Football” game against the Raiders in Las Vegas.

But Williams was amazing as a pass catcher.

Williams had 101 receiving yards and went over the century mark when he pulled a Randy Moss-type move by leaping over Raiders safety Jonathan Abram for a 38-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter of the Chiefs’ 41-14 win.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took the snap, tracked backward, then ran up the middle and, keeping a foot behind the line of scrimmage, threw a ball to Williams, who had run a wheel route.

This was a heck of a catch for a wide receiver, let alone a running back. In football lingo, you could say Williams mossed the defender.

Here’s the thing, Mahomes said he initially wasn’t planning to throw to Williams on the play.

“I was gonna scramble and then I just saw him at the last second. He probably saved a pick,” Mahomes told NBC’s Michele Tafoya after the game. “He always tells me he’s receiving running back. I didn’t believe him, I guess I believe now.”
