Boulevard Brewing releases a special beer in honor of the KC Current soccer team
The Kansas City Current are the toast of the town. And now there is a beer for that toast.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes wore the team’s new logo before and after Monday night’s game, just two days after the women’s soccer team announced its new name.
In honor of the name change, the Boulevard Brewing Company announced it had released a new beer called Teal Rising.
Teal Rising is available at Boulevard’s Tours & Rec Center Beer Hall in crowlers and drafts.
Here is a description from Boulevard: “The Current is the force that unites and drives us forward. Raises each other up and carves new paths. For Athletes. For Fans. For Women. Boulevard unites with the Kansas City Current for Teal Rising, a Proud Pilsner featuring a crisp body, unwavering balance between hops and malt, and a swift finish. Together we rise.”
The beer’s ABV is 4.0% with a 18.0 IBU.
Boulevard said it will give 10% of proceeds to WIN for KC.
In previous years, Boulevard has put out special beers after championships won by Sporting Kansas City, the Royals and the Chiefs. They also had one to honor the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
