Kansas City Chiefs’ L’Jarius Sneed had pick-six in his sights. Instead, he slipped.
Murphy’s Law has been on full display during this Chiefs season: If anything can go wrong, it will.
The Chiefs likely lead the NFL in turnovers off deflections, right? They’ve had penalties that killed drives or extended them for opponents.
Both of those things happened during Monday night’s game against the New York Giants at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs also lost a chance at an interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter. Giants quarterback Daniel Jones barely avoided a sack by throwing the ball in the flat.
The pass was intended for reciever Kadarius Toney, but Chiefs defensive back L’Jarius Sneed had a shot to intercept the ball.
As ESPN’s Brian Griese noted, had Sneed kept his feet, he likely would have had a pick-six because there was nothing but green grass in front of him.
Instead, Sneed slipped and the pass to Toney went for 11 yards and a first down. The Giants’ drive ended with a touchdown that gave them a 17-14 lead.
