For Pete's Sake

Patrick Mahomes gives special encouragement to daughter who is about to say first word

During his visit on “The Rich Eisen Show” earlier this week, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was asked what he would do if he was commissioner of the NFL for a day.

Mahomes at first wasn’t sure, but after pondering it for a while, thought an extra bye week during the season sounded good.

Eisen asked if that was the new father talking, and then asked Mahomes how fatherhood was treating him. Mahomes said he loved being a dad and revealed Sterling Skye will soon say her first word and how he’s doing his best to make sure it’s about him.

“Yeah, it’s been amazing, honestly,” Mahomes said. “To be able to go home and see that little girl every single day, I mean, it truly is an awesome feeling. And we’re almost crawling now and we’ve gotten teeth.

“She is saying, ‘Ah-Ah,’ which to me is like really close to dada. But Brittany says it’s really close to mama. So we’re kind of battling that one out, too. I’m saying dada in every third word of my sentences.”

Eisen jokingly asked: “How’s your cadence on that?”

“Yeah, I’m pretty good at it,” Mahomes said. “I’ve kind of figured it out. You know, I’m getting it to just enough where it kind of just sits there, just so when she says it, I have that satisfaction.”

It was a fun part of the interview, which you can see here:
