For Pete's Sake

Penalties wiped out one of the best plays of Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ career

That ol’ Mahomes magic was on display Sunday during the Chiefs game against Washington at FedExField.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes made arguably his best play of the 2021 season in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately it didn’t count.

The Chiefs had a third-and-5 play from the Washington 49-yard line when Mahomes was chased from the pocket. He retreated back to the Chiefs’ 31-yard line and rolled to his right. While on the numbers on the near sideline at the 35-yard line, Mahomes heaved a pass across his body to the hashmarks on the other side of the field.

Receiver Tyreek Hill hauled in the pass at the Washington 36-yard line and sprinted toward the sideline for a 19-yard gain.

This was amazing:

Willie Gay’s reaction was on the sideline really should become a meme.

Unfortunately there were penalties on each team, wiping out the play. While it won’t count, it should be part of the ESPN and/or the NFL Network highlights on Sunday night.

A video from the stands show just how crazy good the throw was.
