For Pete's Sake

Controversial roughing-the-passer penalty negated an interception by the Chiefs

The Chiefs thought they had finally made a defensive play that would give them the momentum back against the Buffalo Bills in the “Sunday Night Football” game at Arrowhead Stadium.

Buffalo led 31-20 in the fourth quarter, but the Bills faced a third-and-17 play from their own 8-yard line. Quarterback Josh Allen threw a bomb that was intercepted by Rashad Fenton, and the Chiefs sideline and the fans were fired up.

But the good vibes didn’t last long.

The officials ruled the Chiefs’ Frank Clark had roughed Allen on this play:

Former Chiefs offensive lineman Mitchell Schwartz was furious. He tweeted an expletive while calling out the officials.

Schwartz tweeted: “ARE YOU ... KIDDING ME??? The state of refereeing is at an all time low right now. I’m not entirely sure why but it’s so bad and it’s bad across the entire league

“This goes for both plays, the hold and the roughing. It’s consistently bad.”

Others thought the call was wrong, too:
