Josh Gordon’s first catch with KC Chiefs came after some Patrick Mahomes magic
Wide receiver Josh Gordon’s first reception with the Chiefs was an impressive one for a couple of reasons.
On a first-down play in the second quarter of the Chiefs’ game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night at Arrowhead Stadium, Gordon caught an 11-yard pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
But it wasn’t as simple as that.
Mahomes created time as he was chased toward Buffalo sideline by a couple of Bills defensive players. When he was going to have to run out of bounds or take a sack, Mahomes chose Option C.
He created some magic.
Mahomes threw the ball 25 yards while leaning back and Gordon made a leaping catch.
Gordon, 30, signed with the Chiefs on Sept. 30 after he was reinstated by the NFL, which had suspended him in the 2019 season. During his career, Gordon was suspended multiple times for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.
Before taking the field for the Chiefs on Sunday night, the 6-foot-3 Gordon played for the Seahawks and Patriots in 2019.
