Weather potentially could impact second half of Kansas City Chiefs-Buffalo Bills game

Summer is going to stick around for one more weekend, with temperatures predicted to reach 90 degrees on Saturday.

Things will turn Sunday night when rain is predicted in Kansas City. Will that affect the Chiefs-Bills “Sunday Night Football” game at Arrowhead Stadium?

Maybe.

Here is what forecasters are saying about what to expect Sunday night when the Chiefs and Bills play (kickoff is at 7:20 p.m.).

The National Weather Service’s forecast for Sunday night says “showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 60. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.”

Lindsey Anderson said on Friday’s KSHB broadcast: “On Sunday, we’re watching that day very closely. Not only do we have ‘Sunday Night Football,’ but there is a chance for thunderstorms to arrive late at night as well, maybe close to the end of the football game.”

KMBC’s website shows there is a 30% chance of evening showers.

Alena Lee wrote on the KCTV website: “Sunday we’ll be watching closely as our next storm system arrives. This will likely bring rain and thunderstorms to the area late Sunday night with potential impacts to the second half of the Chiefs game.”

Fox 4’s Michelle Bogowith said on Friday: “Sunday, late Sunday, we’re talking closer to 10 p.m., maybe even midnight before rain chances begin to show up. ... So those of you headed out to the Chiefs game, 7:20 kickoff, we should be A-OK to start. There could be maybe a few spits or sprinkles or showers as folks leave the game, into the second half.”

Weather.com’s forecast for Sunday night: “Rain likely. Low 58F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80%. 1 to 2 inches of rain expected.”

Weatherbug.com shows a 70% chance of rain and thunderstorms on Sunday night.
