Video of mic’d-up Tyrann Mathieu shows Chiefs safety trash-talking the Chargers

If you’re a sucker for videos of NFL players who are mic’d-up, the Chiefs shared a great one this week.

Safety Tyrann Mathieu was wearing a microphone during the Chiefs’ 23-20 overtime win against the Chargers on Sunday. Viewers see Mathieu doing his best to inspire the defense, chatting with quarterback Patrick Mahomes and doing some trash talking.

At one point, Mathieu is talking either to a Chargers player or the team in general and says, “Y’all lucky. Y’all lucky I can’t play 11 positions.” Someone must have offered a retort, because Mathieu follows it up saying, “Aye, you on the sideline.”

Later, Mathieu says to Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, who was drafted earlier this year and making his first start: “Throw the ball, No. 10! Ain’t you a first-round draft pick? I’d be cursing my coach out!”

This is entertaining:

Former Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles shared how much he enjoyed watching that:

While you can’t hear Mathieu talking in this video, it’s a nice breakdown of how good he’s been this season from Brian Baldinger of the NFL Network:
