Quarterback Drew Lock leaves Broncos-Steelers game because of a shoulder injury
Broncos quarterback Drew Lock left Sunday’s game at Pittsburgh after suffering an injury.
Lock, who played at Lee’s Summit High School and Mizzou, has a right shoulder injury, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported. Lock was replaced by Jeff Driskel.
The Broncos said Lock, who completed one of five passes for 20 yards against the Steelers, is out for the rest of the game.
The injury happened in the first quarter. Lock was off balance when he took a big hit from Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree that resulted in a strip sack. Here is the play:
Lock, who was chosen in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, is in his first full season as the Broncos starter after going 4-1 last year for Denver.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Lock has a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder and will miss between two and six weeks. Lock will have an MRI on Monday.
“It felt funny,” Lock said after the game. “I’m not going to blow it out of proportion on how funny it felt. I’ve been throwing a football my whole life, and I wouldn’t necessarily say it felt normal right off the bat. So I came back in here and just tried to assess the situation and see what we can do.”
