Detroit Tigers, who once drafted Patrick Mahomes, made a funny mock scouting report
Perhaps in an alternate universe Patrick Mahomes would be starting for the Detroit Tigers against the Royals on Tuesday night.
Mahomes, the Super Bowl MVP for the Chiefs, was drafted by the Tigers in the 37th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft (1,120th overall). Instead of signing with Detroit, he went to Texas Tech to play football and began a path that took him to the Chiefs.
In February, the Tigers shared a mock scouting report of Mahomes. MLB scouts grade players on a 20-80 scale, and Mahomes got an 80++ rating for his arm. “Once threw a runner out at the plate from the parking lot.”
You get the idea, right? This is all for fun. And it’s hilarious.
Other gems:
- “Keeps yelling, ‘HOT ROUTE!’ at our baserunners? Nobody knows what that means.”
- “Will pump fake throw to 1st basemen, but then runs it to the base himself.”
- “Prefers catchers say ‘Z Flank, Motion Bullet, Split Y Flare, Circle Read’ when calling for a fastball.”
- “Good, but keeps trying to do no look passes?”
Here is the scouting report and kudos to the Tigers:
The Royals open a two-game series against the Tigers on Tuesday night at Comerica Park in Detroit.
