Seven milestones Chiefs players or Andy Reid could reach in the 2020 season
Chiefs players and coach Andy Reid won’t necessarily be looking to set personal records or move up the list of franchise/NFL bests, but that could be the case this season.
The Chiefs play Thursday night against the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium, and there could be some notable accomplishments in the 2020 opener or at some point during the season.
Here are seven milestones that could be reached in 2020, from the Chiefs pregame notes:
1. Former Rams/Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner reached 10,000 passing yards faster than anyone (36 games) in NFL history. Patrick Mahomes has 9,412 passing yards in his first 31 games. With 588 passing yards in his first four games, Mahomes will eclipse Warner’s record.
2. Mahomes needs 24 touchdown passes in 12 games to be the fastest to 100 touchdown passes (Dan Marino, 44 games) in NFL history.
3. In his career, Tyreek Hill has 53 catches of 25 yards or more. With 14 more receptions of 25 yards or more, Hill will pass Tony Gonzalez for the most in franchise history (66).
4. Travis Kelce’s next game with 100 receiving yards will be his 20th such game, which will tie him with Otis Taylor for second-most in Chiefs history. Gonzalez (31) has the most.
5. If he has 81 receiving yards on Thursday night, Kelce will pass Henry Marshall (6,545 yards) for fourth-most in Chiefs history.
6. Kicker Harrison Butker is 17 points away from moving into sixth place in the Chiefs’ all-time scoring list.
7. Andy Reid has 222 career victories (207 in the regular season and 15 in the postseason). With seven regular-season victories this year, Reid would pass Pro Football Hall of Famer Paul Brown (213 regular-season wins). With eight victories, Reid would pass Pro Football Hall of Famer Curly Lambeau (229). Both Brown and Lambeau have their names on NFL stadiums.
