Seven months after Super Bowl, Chiefs fan Paul Rudd is ‘still on cloud nine’
For Chiefs fans, these last 215 days have been bliss. Well, outside of the COVID-19 pandemic, of course.
That’s how long it’s been since the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV, and actor/Big Slick co-host/Shawnee Mission West graduate Paul Rudd said he is still riding high.
Rudd was on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio and discussed his happiness about the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl, how this is still an unusual feeling as a Chiefs fan and identifying Patrick Mahomes as a star early in his career.
“It’s really exciting that they’re a great team and they have so many, almost every piece kind of returning, every guy,” Rudd said. “And, we’ve locked up Andy Reid and Brett Veach for the next how many years and so it is really exciting but it’s never in my nature to kind of just sit back and relax. I’m enthusiastic about the future, I’m very excited obviously that, you know, Mahomes is on my team.
“It’s weird for fans of the Chiefs, this is an unusual feeling for us. We don’t know what to do with it. It’s very exciting, but, you know, and of course I’m still on cloud nine. I don’t think any of us have really come down from that. I mean, despite the fact that, like immediately after it happened, the world got set on fire.”
Rudd was asked if he knew Mahomes would be the star he’s become. Rudd said he went all in on Mahomes in his rookie season.
“Obviously what he’s done is insane,” Rudd said. “I mean it’s really incredible, and, you know, we’ve seen things from him that we’ve never seen before. But I had a feeling he was gonna be really, really good.
“Just from the way they were talking about him, even when Alex (Smith) was still our guy. And so I was really excited. I drafted him in a keeper league when he sat the whole season and I never dropped him. And so he’s still my quarterback in that league, but you know it’s incredible. I didn’t know he’d do this great but I thought it’d be pretty, pretty great.”
