For Pete's Sake

Marcus Morris, the former KU star, denies he purposely stepped on Luka Doncic’s ankle

The Los Angeles Clippers won Game 6 of their playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks by a whopping 43 points on Tuesday night, but many think something nefarious took place.

With the Clippers leading by 29 early in the third quarter of the game in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, Los Angeles’ Marcus Morris stepped on Mavericks star Luka Dončić’s ankle from behind. Dončić stumbled and lost his shoe. It’s the same ankle Dončić injured earlier in the series.

Dončić was asked by the Dallas Morning News if he thought Morris had done it on purpose.

“I’ve seen (the replay), yeah of course. I have my own thoughts,” Dončić said “I hope it wasn’t intentional.”

Many people on Twitter thought Morris, the former Kansas star, had done it intentionally. But he denied it.

“I play this game with a level of respect for myself and other players,” Morris wrote on Twitter. “To think I would try to injure somebody is crazy to me. 10 years going against the best. I stand on morals and hard work. I compete and leave it out there every game.

“Basketball has never been that serious to try to hurt somebody. Im not apologizing for (anything) because I know what I put into this game day in and day out. It was a mistake deal wit it. Competing is why I play.”

Here are two looks at the play from the game, which the Clippers won 154-111:

Here is a very small sample of what people on Twitter were saying about the play:
