Royals share look at what players are doing at alternate camp at T-Bones stadium
The media isn’t allowed at the Royals alternate camp at T-Bones stadium, but the team gave fans a glimpse into what’s happening there.
Outfielder Kyle Isbel, who was chosen by the Royals in the third round of the 2018 MLB Draft, played guide for the video.
In the video, Isbel arrives at the park and has his temperature checked (video by prospect Nick Pratto), then takes a COVID-19 test (spitting into a tube).
“It’s pretty nasty but it’s for our health and safety so it’s real important that we do this,” Isbel said.
The video shows highlights of fielding drills, an intrasquad game and a hitting competition at batting practice. In the latter, players were divided into two teams and faced only left-handed curveballs. This was the system for scoring:
One point: Hit a ball 92 mph off the bat and the ball has to land in the outfield grass
Two points: Hit a ball 105 mph off the bat and the ball has to land in the outfield grass
Three points: Hit a ball 105 mph over the fence
The amera also caught the players pondering if fish eat other fish’s eggs.
It’s an interesting video:
