ESPN reveals its revamped ‘Monday Night Football’ broadcast crew
ESPN announced a new broadcast crew for “Monday Night Football” games.
Steve Levy will be the play-by-play announcer and joined by analysts Louis Riddick and Brian Griese. They are replacing Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland, who were often criticized by fans last season
Lisa Salters will be back as the sideline reporter for a ninth season, while John Parry returns as the officiating analyst.
“Steve, Brian and Louis are trusted voices of the NFL whose knowledge and love of football connects with fans,” Connor Schell, ESPN’s Executive Vice President of Content, said in a news release. “We are thrilled that they will join Lisa Salters to make up our new ‘Monday Night Football team’ and share their passion and insight with football fans in what promises to be a great broadcast each week.”
ESPN noted that Levy, Riddick and Griese worked a “Monday Night Football” game during a broadcast doubleheader in the opening week of last season.
Levy joined ESPN in 1993 and has called college football games on ABC and ESPN since 2016.
After seven seasons in the NFL, Riddick worked in the front offices at Washington and Philadelphia before joining ESPN in 2014.
Griese has worked with Levy calling college games since 2016. He was a quarterback with the Broncos, Bears, Buccaneers and Dolphins from 1998-2009.
Tessitore and McFarland were removed as “Monday Night Football” announcers in May after two seasons.
