Former Chiefs center Mitch Morse is ‘happy for my friends’ who won Super Bowl LIV
To an outsider, Mitch Morse’s timing couldn’t have been worse.
After the Chiefs lost to the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game following the 2018 season, Morse hit free agency. He signed with the Buffalo Bills, who made the playoffs.
In a wild-card game, the Bills lost to the Texans. Houston advanced to the divisional round game against the Chiefs. The Texans blew a 24-point lead as the Chiefs won 51-31.
The Chiefs then won the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl LIV.
So if Morse had returned to the Chiefs, he might be in line for a really nice ring as a Super Bowl champion.
During a call with reporters on Sunday, Morse was asked if had any regrets. Unlike Frank Sinatra, Morse had none.
“You know, I have some really good friends on that team and I was happy for them,” said Morse, the former Mizzou player. “But like you said, I’m in the place I need to be.
“I couldn’t be happier where I’m at and watching that game, I was happy for my friends, I know all the work they had put in and couldn’t be happier for them. But I couldn’t care less at the same time because I know where I was and I was happy to be there.”
