For Pete's Sake

Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes lends his voice to animated NFL Sunday Ticket commercial

We’ve seen many unexpected things this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Add this to the list: an animated version of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. That shows up in a new NFL Sunday Ticket ad campaign, which included Mahomes’ voice work.

DirecTV said this year’s series of commercials, featuring NFL quarterbacks, was developed during the shelter-in-place order because of the coronavirus. Mahomes, the Cowboys’ Dak Prescott and the 49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo ride a rocket-powered recliner with a fan “to an out-of-this-world football land dedicated to their team.”

“I’m excited to work with DirecTV again on this ad campaign,” Mahomes said in a statement. “The pandemic has made it even harder to connect with friends and family in-person so I love that they can still keep up with my games every Sunday with DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket no matter where they live.”

Here is the commercial featuring a cartoon Mahomes, who makes mention of a Super Bowl ring that’s yet to be unveiled:
