Video shows frightening moment soccer player was hit by lightning at practice

All Ivan Zaborovsky has to show for his brush with death is a small scar on this chest.

Given the frightening video below of Zaborovsky, who is a goalkeeper for Znamya Truda in Russia, that seems miraculous.

DW Sports shared a video from July 4 that shows Zaborovsky preparing to kick a ball into an empty net during training. Out of nowhere a lightning bolt struck Zaborovsky.

CNN reported Zaborovsky was taken to the hospital where doctors put him into an induced coma.

“There was a clear sky, albeit overcast, but neither rain nor wind,” club general director Igor Mayorov told CNN. “If there was a thunderstorm, then we would not have been training.”
