Chiefs players and fans celebrate Chris Jones’ contract extension with KC

The Chiefs and Chris Jones got this done with more than a day to spare.

Facing a Wednesday afternoon deadline to work out a long-term contract because Jones had been given the franchise tag, the two sides finished a deal on Tuesday.

Jones, the star defensive lineman, reached agreement on a four-year contract extension worth $85 million with $60 million total guarantee at signing, the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported.

Chiefs fans were a happy bunch when the news broke, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes was as well.
