KC company is marketing to Chiefs fans by selling ‘Keep Patrick Mahomes safe’ masks
Monday is the first day Kansas City is mandating people wear a mask or face covering in public settings as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to climb in this area.
While some may doubt the benefit of wearing a mask, studies have shown the benefit in helping stop the spread of the coronavirus.
“I think there’s enough evidence to say that the best benefit (of a mask) is for people who have COVID-19 to protect them from giving COVID-19 to other people, but you’re still going to get a benefit from wearing a mask if you don’t have COVID-19,” infectious disease specialist Peter Chin-Hong told UCSF.com.
Wearing a mask can help protect others from getting COVID-19, but if you’re a Chiefs fan and “love your neighbor as yourself” doesn’t resonate, consider Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
You wouldn’t want the Super Bowl LIV MVP to get sick, right?
That tongue-in-cheek message has been put on face masks that are being made by a company called Raygun.
The masks are being sold for $15 and Raygun wrote on its website: “Help Keep Patrick Mahomes Safe: Wear A Mask. 35% of Profits Goes to Supporting Food Banks in Our Communities.”
Apparently the masks are a hot item for Raygun, which is at 1803 Baltimore Ave., in Kansas City. It also has stores in Chicago, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Des Moines.
“We started selling them on (June) 23rd and they have been one of our best selling masks since then — we had a bit over 300 sold in our first week,” Raygun wrote in a Twitter message.
