For Pete's Sake

Boulevard’s special beer to celebrate Chiefs’ Super Bowl title is now being sold

It’s somewhat fitting that it took fans longer than expected to get their hands on Boulevard Brewing Company’s beer to honor the Chiefs’ Super Bowl championship.

After all, fans had to wait 50 years to see the Chiefs win a second Super Bowl, which they did by beating the San Francisco 49ers in February.

Boulevard’s “Worth the Wait” beer was set to be released April 6, but the coronavirus pandemic forced a delay for the Imperial Red Ale to reach fans.

The wait for “Worth the Wait” ended Monday.

This is the third time Boulevard has brewed up something special to honor a Kansas City sports champion. After the Royals won the 2015 World Series, Boulevard released a “Crown Town Ale.” In 2013, Sporting Kansas City’s MLS Cup victory led to a “championship ale” being made by Boulevard.

Like those previous two beers, “Worth the Wait” is being sold in 25 ounce bottles. Because of copyright laws, Boulevard makes no mention of the Chiefs, but that’s the impetus for “Worth the Wait.”

While it’s not the Lombardi Trophy, Chiefs fans showed off their prize on Twitter:
