KC barbecue spot is offering a ‘Wasp burger,’ inspired by Chiefs’ Super Bowl play
It’s been more than four months since the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV, but the signature play from that game remains hugely popular in Kansas City.
After calling for “2-3 Jet Chip Wasp,” quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed a 44-yard pass to Tyreek Hill starting the comeback for what would be a 31-20 victory.
A diagram of the play is on a T-shirt and hoodie, while the Grains & Taps brewery in Lee’s Summit made a beer named “Jet Chip Wasp.” There’s a poster available and the play was put in the Madden video game.
It’s also on a mug, a clock, a blanket and even a pillow.
If it seems we’ve exhausted all possible ways to remember or pay tribute to the play, think again.
Jousting Pigs BBQ in Liberty is offering a Wasp Burgers.
Here is what the restaurant wrote in an Instagram post: “Introducing The WASP BURGER Named after the most pivotal play that ultimately lead our Kansas City Chiefs to becoming the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS!This burger is nothing lite. With two quarter pound ground brisket patties, half pound chipotle pepper jack sausage, smoked jalapeno and garlic aioli, cheddar cheese, and a bed of pickled jalapenos this burger will burn you faster than Mahomes to Hill.”
The burger will be a Thursday special, the restaurant wrote. Here’s what it looks like:
