Chiefs could soon see their Super Bowl rings. Here is what recent winners received.
Very soon, the Chiefs will star in the latest version of lord of the rings.
Not the movie, of course. They will be getting their Super Bowl LIV championship rings, and if history is a guide, fans will get their first look in the near future.
When the Eagles won Super Bowl LII, they received their rings on June 14. Malcolm Jenkins was a safety for Philadelphia at the time, and NJ.com said he was asked by Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie if the team should design modest, elegant rings.
“The answer was a resounding no,” Jenkins said in the story. “We don’t want to be modest. This is the first time, so let’s act like we’ve never been there before.”
Tight end Travis Kelce had a sneak peek at the Chiefs rings and said they are going to be “beautiful.”
One thing is certain, the Chiefs rings will have a lot of diamonds. The Eagles’ rings, per NJ.com, were 10-karat white gold, with 219 total diamonds and 17 rare green sapphires.
Here is a look at those rings:
The Eagles embraced the underdog role during the postseason, so they had a dog engraved inside the ring (wouldn’t it be cool if there was a hornet in the Chiefs rings?):
This is what the Patriots received for winning Super Bowl LIII (came out on June 7, 2019):
Here is New England’s Super Bowl LI ring, which came after the Patriots rallied from a 28-3 deficit to beat Atlanta (rings revealed on June 10, 2017):
The Denver Broncos’ Super Bowl 50 rings also had a huge amount of diamonds. They were unveiled on June 12, 2016:
No word on when the Chiefs will get their rings, but it will be interesting to see the details.
