Betting sites set over/under numbers for Chiefs players and odds for a 16-0 season
Is a fifth straight AFC West title in the cards for the Chiefs?
The betting site Bet Online apparently thinks so. It set “win total groupings” for all 32 NFL teams in the 2020 season, and the best odds were given for the Chiefs is winning between 10 and 14 games. The Raiders, Broncos and Chargers all have the best chance of winning between five and nine games.
Here’s the breakdown for the Chiefs from Bet Online:
- 10-14 wins: 5-9
- 5-9 wins: 3-2
- 0-4 wins: 18-1
- 15-16 wins: 20-1
The odds of winning at least 15 games doesn’t seem like such a bad bet, right? I asked Bet Online for odds on a 16-0 season, and the answer is 50-1.
BetMGM.com shows the Chiefs’ over/under for victories is 11.5. That site also has the Chiefs as a 50-1 shot at finishing with a 16-0 regular-season record.
Cynthia Frelund, the analytics expert for the NFL Network has the Chiefs’ projected win total at 11.1:
There are a number of prop bets for the players as well.
Both FoxBet.com and Bovada have quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ over/under for touchdown passes at 36.5. BetGM has the number at 35.5.
FoxBet put the over/under for Mahomes’ passing yards at 4,574.5, while FoxGM has the number at 4,529.5 and Bovada set the number at 4,699.5.
Mahomes had 4,031 passing yards and 26 touchdown passes in 14 games a year ago. In 2018, he had 50 touchdown throws with 5,097 passing yards.
Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill and tight end Travis Kelce also have over/under totals for the 2020 season.
Bovada and BetFox had similar numbers for Hill’s receptions (76.5 over/under), receiving yards (1,170.5) and touchdowns (9.5).
For Kelce, Bovada and BetFox each put his touchdown catches at 7.5 and his receptions at 93.5. However, BetFox’s over/under for his receiving yards is 1,120.5, while Bovada has the number at 1,225.5.
