DiGiorno had a funny tweet about Michael Jordan’s ‘Flu Game’ in 1997 NBA Finals
Let’s be honest: the “Flu Game” sounds better than the “Food Poisoning Game.”
But viewers learned Sunday night while watching “The Last Dance” on ESPN that Michael Jordan didn’t have the flu during Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals.
For the unfamiliar: the Bulls and Jazz were tied 2-2 and Jordan was sick with what was reported as the flu. He was visibly ill during the game, but Jordan somehow managed to score 38 points with seven rebounds and a clutch three-pointer down the stretch as the Bulls won 90-88 at Utah.
In Episode 9 of “The Last Dance” on Sunday, Jordan described ordering a late-night pizza that he believes gave him food poisoning.
One red flag: five people delivered the pizza to Jordan’s room.
Here is the clip from the documentary:
The hotel in Park City, Utah didn’t have room service, so Jordan had to order the pizza. That was the basis of this tweet from DiGiorno, the frozen-pizza company:
Well done, DiGiorno.
