For Pete's Sake

In their schedule release, the Dolphins got the Chiefs’ home state wrong

The optimist would like to believe a time will come when opposing sports teams don’t use a “Wizard of Oz” reference when talking about Kansas City sports franchise.

It just won’t be anytime soon.

The latest reference came Thursday night when the Miami Dolphins released their schedule on Twitter with the theme of someone channel surfing.

When it came time for the Chiefs’ Week 14 game at Hard Rock Stadium (where the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV), the Dolphins shared a scene from “The Wizards of Oz.”

The clip in question is of, you guessed it, Dorothy saying, “I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”

Now, some fans may think there aren’t many great options for ways to illustrate Kansas City. However, two other teams did a good job.

The Chiefs also play the Falcons this fall, and Atlanta shared a clip from the Super Bowl parade. It’s of fan Larue Bell running into a parking meter and falling to the ground (look for it at the 57-second mark):

The Jets schedule reveal involved drawings with audio clips from players, movies or other sources. For the Week 8 game against the Chiefs, the Jets drew a photo of Patrick Mahomes at Arrowhead Stadium with many, many bottles of ketchup. The audio is of Mahomes saying he puts ketchup on his macaroni and cheese (it’s at the 27-second mark):

A clip of Mahomes talking about ketchup, as you can see in the video above.
