Raiders rookie linebacker thinks there is a blueprint for slowing down the Chiefs

A few weeks before the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV, the Las Vegas Raiders signed linebacker Derrick Moncrief out of the Canadian Football League.

Moncrief, who played at Auburn and then Oklahoma State, had been with the Saskatchewan Roughriders for the past three seasons.

On Tuesday, Moncrief joined the new “Ballin For God” show, and was asked about his faith, his journey in football and being signed by the Raiders.

Moncrief was also asked about playing in the same division as the Chiefs and facing a high-powered offense led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Specifically, how do you stop the Chiefs?

Moncrief outlined a plan.

“Football is football. Just do your job,” Moncrief said. “It’s hard to stop guys. You can slow ‘em down, you make it difficult for them. I think just one thing with football as a defense and as a team, you can be physical and you can impose your will on teams.

“There’s a lot of teams that don’t like the physicality part of the football game because you know how it is now. As long as we’re physical and .you can take the ball away, run the ball, we’ll be alright for sure.”
