Former K-State coach Tex Winter was in spotlight in ‘The Last Dance’ documentary
For a country starved for sports, ESPN’s documentary on Michael Jordan has been a godsend.
Fans have been sharing their favorite clips from “The Last Dance,” especially on Twitter, which has been a beehive of activity when episodes have aired on Sundays.
Kansas State fans loved seeing former Wildcats coach Tex Winter and his Triangle Offense get mention during Episode Four on Sunday night. Winter, who died in 2018, was K-State’s coach from 1953-68. They won eight conference championships in that time.
After head-coaching jobs at Washington, the Houston Rockets, Northwestern and Long Beach State, Winter was hired in 1985 as an assistant coach and helped the Bulls win their six NBA championships.
When Phil Jackson took over as head coach of the Lakers, Winter joined him and won three more titles.
