ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt defends Patrick Mahomes after criticism about missing Masters
Friday would have been the day golf fans wondered who would make the cut at The Masters.
But the iconic golf tournament has been postponed until November because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some golf fans are missing a tournament that is billed as a “tradition unlike any other.”
That includes Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who apparently would have been at Augusta National on Friday.

A number of Twitter users criticized Mahomes for sharing that thought publicly as the coronavirus takes a terrible toll on people’s lives. Here are some of the replies:
ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt was among those who came to Mahomes’ defense. Some pointed out the huge donation to the community from Mahomes’ foundation.
Still others said it is possible to feel sadness about the coronavirus’ effect on people at the same time we lament what’s missing in our lives.
