For Pete's Sake

Artist draws Arrowhead Stadium using names of every Chiefs player in team history

A picture may indeed be worth thousand words, but how about a drawing?

In the case of artist Dan Duffy, it took 1,292 names of Chiefs players to create his drawing of Arrowhead Stadium.

How did he arrive at the number? Duffy said that was the number of players in Chiefs franchise history, according to the team’s media guide.

“But it did take some work to extract every name and recreate in chronological order,” Duffy wrote in an email.

All told, Duffy said he put in five weeks worth of work (roughly 150 to 200 hours) to complete the project.

Duffy lives in Philadelphia but said he had a few reasons why he chose Arrowhead Stadium as a project.

“Kansas City’s fanbase is one of football’s best and I wanted to do something for the fans to celebrate their 60th Anniversary and Super Bowl win (glad I waited until the end of the season...thought they may win it all and I wanted to get the full roster!). The Sea of Red at Arrowhead is extremely iconic, so that had to be the image,” Duffy wrote. “I’m also a big Andy Reid fan from his time with the Eagles. After all of those great teams he coached in Philly, the city rallied behind the Chiefs for this years’ Super Bowl and we couldn’t be happier!”

Duffy also created a Patrick Mahomes drawing, using just his 2018 stats. You can find that and the Arrowhead Stadium drawing for sale at www.artofwords.com.
