Charles Barkley, who is quarantined, explains what happens when given coronavirus test
Despite having no games to cover, the TNT’s “Inside the NBA” show ran on Thursday night, and proved quite informative.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver was interviewed by Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal in the studio, while Charles Barkley participated via a phone call.
Barkley wasn’t with the others because he had taken a coronavirus test and was in self-quarantine.
Sanjay Gupta also joined the show and provided some basics about the coronavirus and answered questions from the quartet.
During that segment, Barkley explained what happens in a coronavirus test.
“They do four swabs. I got tested for the flu also,” Barkley said. “They put a swab in your nose and they put one in your mouth. The one in the nose is not comfortable, but the one in the mouth is easy. They were fantastic to me, but I just can’t wait to get the results back. I’m just hoping I’ve got some kind of bad bug.”
Barkley talked about it at the start of this segment, and there was some good information from Gupta about the coronavirus testing, why it’s important, why not everyone needs to be tested, how the virus spreads and was to help stop the spread:
