Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg was taken to the hospital after falling ill during game
This was a disturbing scene, one that seemed worse given that it happened during the avalanche of coronavirus news on Wednesday night.
Nebraska men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg was clearly not feeling well during the Cornhuskers’ 89-64 loss to Indiana in the Big Ten tournament in Indianapolis.
TV cameras caught Hoiberg struggling on the bench:
Hoiberg eventually left during the game and was taken to a hospital. While he was being checked out, the Cornhuskers’ team remained in the locker room after the game, according to Christopher Heady of the Omaha World Herald.
Nebraska basketball announced later that Hoiberg, the former Iowa State coach and player, had Influence-A, which it called a “common cold.”
Hoiberg was released from the hospital and returned to Nebraska’s team hotel.
Randy Peterson of the Des Moines Register shared a message he received from Hoiberg, who said he was fine.
