Broncos’ Drew Lock explains how Peyton Manning has helped with offseason preparation
Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock’s first season as a professional ended on a high note.
After a thumb injury kept Lock on injured reserve for most of the season, he was handed the starter’s reins in December and helped the Broncos to a 4-1 record.
Even if Joe Flacco can return from a neck injury that forced him to IR, Lock seems set to be the starter heading into the 2020 season.
On Sunday, Lock took in the Nuggets-Raptors game in Denver and was interviewed by Vic Lombardi on Altitude TV.
Lombardi noted that when Lock, the former Mizzou and Lee’s Summit High School star, was shown on the videoboard, fans gave a big cheer.
“I think what people were missing here is that Peyton Manning is sitting over there courtside,” Lock said. “They should really be giving him the big applause, because he’s done a little bit more for this town than I have, but I’m hoping I can do what he did for this town, as well.”
Lombardi then asked if Manning had given Lock any advice.
“We’ve been on the phone multiple times,” Lock said. “We’ve gone over everything from A-to-Z on what you should do in this offseason. When you should get your receivers together, your regiment of throwing, lifting, everything.
“He’s been such a big help to me this offseason, my first one to really get me going.”
Altitude TV then showed some clips of Lock playing basketball in high school.
