Eric Berry reportedly may return for 2020 season, reunite with former Chiefs teammate
There could be a reunion of former Chiefs stars in Indianapolis.
Jim Trotter of the NFL Network reported the “most likely landing spot” for former Chiefs safety Eric Berry, who sat out the 2019 season on a sabbatical, is the Colts.
“I’ve been told that there have at least been discussions,” Trotter said, per the NFL Network. “One of Eric Berry’s best friends is Justin Houston, his former teammate in Kansas City, who is now with the Colts.”
Houston and Berry were Chiefs teammates for eight seasons, so that could be incentive to join the Colts.
Berry, a three-time All-Pro, is just 31 years old. However, he’s played in just four games, including one postseason contest, since the start of the 2017 season when he suffered an Achilles injury. Berry played his entire nine-year career with the Chiefs, who released him last March.
Trotter believes Berry is poised for a comeback.
“I’ve seen tape of him,” Trotter said on the NFL Network, “and he looks great.”
