Meet the bull named for Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes for the PBR event in Kansas City
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ fame continues to grow to the point where it has transcended the NFL. He’s also well known in many other sports, including some fans may not expect.
For instance, the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) will compete at the Sprint Center on Saturday and Sunday, and one bull has been renamed in honor of Mahomes.
Its official name is “Mahomie,” and will wear custom-made ear tags with his new name.
While Mahomes is listed at 230 pounds, “Mahomie” weighs roughly 1,700 pounds.
PBR said “Mahomie” is from Paradigm Bull Company and will buck in Round 2 of the Unleash The Beast’s Caterpillar Classic at 1:45 p.m. Sunday. Riding “Mahomie” will be Jess Lockwood, who has twice won the PBR World Championship, including last year. He is currently ranked second.
“Mahomie” has bucked off three of four riders during competitions since last August.
No word on if Mahomes is a rodeo fan, but he has been known to visit PBR Big Sky in the Power & Light District and once rode a mechanical bull.
