Travis Kelce revealed his brother’s Super Bowl advice during visit to ‘Late Night’
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and late-night television seem to be a good mix.
Kelce visited “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on Wednesday, and he brought a beverage on set. It was ice with a lime.
“And,” Kelce noted, “a little tequila.”
As a conversation starter, Meyers pulled out a photo from the Super Bowl celebration and Kelce on stage at Union Station with a Louis Vuitton coat and the WWE championship belt.
Kelce also revealed what advice his brother, Eagles offensive lineman Jason Kelce, gave him about playing in the Super Bowl. Kelce was asked that question a lot in the week leading up to the Chiefs’ 31-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers, but he usually brushed off.
However, when the Kelce family got together for a dinner in Miami, Travis did ask his big brother about playing in the big game. Jason and the Eagles beat the Patriots in the LII.
“I asked him when he came down to Miami,” Kelce told Meyers. “He told me, ‘Just be yourself. Don’t let the moment get too big. At the end of the day, it’s just a game. Guys start to do special things or something different pregame or the week (leading) to the game, thinking that it’s such a big moment, such a big game, I’ve got to do everything that I possibly can. The reality is it’s what you’ve been doing all year, you’ve just got to stick to it and be yourself.’”
Myers asked if that proved to be the case.
“It felt like a regular game, except for there were stars everywhere. It was Miami,” Kelce said. “Every time you looked up at the screen, it was Beyonce or David Beckham or somebody. It was like ‘Oh wow, look! Oh, yeah, Super Bowl, Super Bowl. Stay focused, stay focused.’”
Kelce also talked about the special jersey he made for his mom (half Chiefs, half Eagles), his charity, opening a STEM robotics lab at “Operation Breakthrough” and an epic fight with his brother when they were in high school. Spoiler: their mom’s casserole was ruined.
