Pro athletes take to Twitter to answer which sport requires most mental preparation
It began with a simple humble brag.
Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman tweeted this on Friday:
I’m more convinced than ever that NO athletes have to be more mentally prepared than football players. Back me up 12’s!
— Richard Sherman (@RSherman_25) June 12, 2015It didn’t take long for other professional athletes to disagree.
Is it baseball?
Hey @RSherman_25 I have less than half a second to make a decision. Have to lock in. Baseball fans back me up. https://t.co/WafpvQeFWB
— Jose Bautista (@JoeyBats19) June 12, 2015Or NASCAR?
Sure about that @RSherman_25? 43 racecar drivers at 200mph inches from each other takes it to a whole new level. https://t.co/uUBCRf5gmV
— Dale Earnhardt Jr. (@DaleJr) June 12, 2015Perhaps it’s golf.
Surely the mental toughness required for golf has to be way up there? Stationary object w/out chance to be reactive @JayBilas @RSherman_25
— Graeme McDowell (@Graeme_McDowell) June 13, 2015But it could be boxing.
@RSherman_25 @JayBilas try fighting with a broken jaw and slipping punches or fighting with a broken hand then can compare
— Tureano Johnson (@Tureano1984) June 12, 2015Don’t forget hockey.
.@RSherman_25 I think any athlete who excels at the highest level of their respected sport equally requires serious mental preparation. No?
— Marc Methot (@MarcMethot3) June 12, 2015Maybe tennis?
Hey @RSherman_25 & @JoeyBats19! Tennis players have to be mentally strong out on the court ALONE. Right tennis fans? https://t.co/YlO4zL7Zqz
— Caroline Wozniacki (@CaroWozniacki) June 12, 2015Or MMA?
@RSherman_25 try fighting ! When its only you out there
— Sean Soriano (@ssorianoMMA) June 12, 2015Hat tip to For The Win.
