In Super Bowl, Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes was calm, cool, collected and ... well-mannered

Last month, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes made a list of the best-mannered public figures in the United States.

Anyone who may have wondered why Mahomes was chosen need only watch his mic’d-up moments in Super Bowl LIV.

Mahomes praised 49ers defenders for putting good hits on him, including the bone-crunching shot he took from safety Jimmie Ward near the goal line.

The ball was knocked from Mahomes’ hands and flew out of bounds. Mahomes bounced to his feet and told Ward: “That’s a good ... hit.”

There was also this moment between Mahomes and coach Andy Reid when the Chiefs got the ball back with a chance to run out of the clock on their 31-20 win. Notice how Mahomes calls Reid “sir” after Reid asks Mahomes to use all of the clock:
