For Pete's Sake

49ers fan Jeff Gordon loses bet, wears Chiefs jersey during NASCAR broadcast

Legendary NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon is a native of Vallejo, California, which is about 40 minutes northeast of San Francisco.

Although Gordon grew up in Indiana, he is a 49ers fan and was confident his team would win Super Bowl LIV.

So much so that he made a bet with NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer, the Chiefs fan from Emporia, Kansas. Well, we all know how that turned out for the 49ers.

Gordon paid up on the wager, wearing a Chiefs No. 24 jersey (that was Gordon’s number when he raced) during Sunday’s broadcast of the Busch Clash at Daytona Speedway.

“This is hard to wear right now. I’m a diehard 49ers fan ... have been for a long time,” Gordon said on Fox Sports. “But a bet is a bet and here I am Clint Bowyer.”
