Academy Awards’ ‘In Memoriam’ video opened with Kobe Bryant photo, quote
Two years ago, Kobe Bryant won an Academy Award for his work on an animated short.
“Dear Basketball” was based on a poem Bryant wrote in 2015 announcing his retirement from the NBA. He was an executive producer on the film and shared an Oscar with animator Glen Keane.
On Sunday night, Bryant was shown during the Academy Awards’ “In Memoriam” video, remembering those who have died since last year’s show. On Jan. 26, Bryant, his daughter and seven others were killed in a helicopter crash in California.
A photo of Bryant with his award was shown along with this quote from him: “Life is too short to get bogged down and be discouraged. You have to keep moving. You have to keep going.”
